Le conservatoire artistique de la Polynésie française organise à Tipaerui, du lundi 21 au vendredi 25 novembre 2022, son XXII^ème stage international de pratique des arts traditionnels.

Un travail de révision des bases - Ouverte aux pratiquants étrangers et hors territoire, cette semaine d’apprentissage a pour but de permettre aux stagiaires de travailler les bases, pas et postures de la danse traditionnelle tahitienne, tout en recevant une initiation dans deux disciplines complémentaires : les percussions (pehe) et l’art des pupu himene.

Contenu des cours - Les stagiaires se verront proposer à minima dix heures de danse, cinq heures de percussions et quatre heures de pratique des himene. A l’issue de la semaine, le vendredi, ils présenteront devant un jury professionnel les chorégraphies préparées avec leurs enseignants et correspondant à leur niveau d’inscription. Un point demeure essentiel : le conservatoire ne délivre pas de diplômes aux stagiaires, mais une attestation de présence avec une mention

Historique - Lancés courant 2009, les stages internationaux du Conservatoire ont été organisés en six niveaux, correspondant à six temps de présence pour les pratiquants. L’accession au sixième niveau permet aux pratiquants de tenter d’obtenir une distinction rare : le prix international Louise Kimitete, qui pour l’instant a été décerné une seule fois à une danseuse américaine, Desiree Woodward-Lee.

Le XXI^ème et dernier stage en date s‘était tenu du lundi 2 au vendredi 6 décembre 2019, et avait réuni 79 pratiquants, Vahine et Tane, provenant essentiellement du Mexique, du Japon, des Etats-Unis et de métropole. Le XXII^ème stage a pour l’instant enregistré une vingtaine de pratiquants, dont la grande majorité provient cette année du Mexique. Mais nous comptons également des stagiaires originaires de Nouvelle-Calédonie, de Fiji et d’Australie, ce qui traduit l’intérêt grandissant de nos cousins du Pacifique pour le ‘ori tahiti. Concernant l’Europe, nous avons aussi des participantes de France et d’Espagne.

Les liaisons aériennes avec le Japon n’ayant pas encore été relancées, les pratiquantes japonaises se positionnent d’ores et déjà en juin 2023, à l’occasion du XXIII^ème stage. Le coût d’une semaine de stage est de 40.000 XPF.

ARTISTIC CONSERVATORY OF FRENCH POLYNESIA –

The artistical conservatory of French Polynesia is planning its 22nd international workshop of traditional arts from Monday the 21st to Friday the 25th of November. This workshop will take place in Tipaerui, Papeete (Tahiti).

A workshop to master the basics – Designed for international and abroad students, the goal of this workshop is to master the basic steps and posture of traditional tahitian dance, along with an introduction to percussion and singing (himene).

Course content – International students will follow several courses, including ten hours of traditionnal dance, 5 hours of percussion and 4 hours of himene. At the end of the week, on Friday the 25th, they will present their final choreography to a professional jury. This performance will be prepared during the workshop with their dance teachers, according to the level of each participant. Please note that the conservatory only delivers a certificate of attendance, which is different from the diplomas of the establishment.

History – Launched around 2009, the international workshop of the conservatory are organized in 6 levels, which refers to every year of engagement from the students. Once a student reaches level 6, he or she can get a rare distinction : the international Louise Kimitete prize. For now, only the American dancer Miss Desiree Woodward-Lee reached that prestigious goal.

The XXIst and last workshop took place from Monday the 2nd to Friday the 6th in 2019. It gathered 79 participants, Vahine and Tane, essentialy coming from Mexico, Japan, the United States and France.

For this year’s edition, about thirty participants have registered, which mostly come from Mexico. But there are also students coming from New Caledonia, Fiji and Australia, which translates the growing interest of Pacific dancers. Finally, we also have Europeans dancers from France and Spain.

Japan’s borders still being closed for Tahiti, we hope the japenese delegation will be present for the XXIIIrd international workshop.

The price for this unique weekly workshop is 40 000 XPF, so approximately 332 euros or 332 US $.
